Shutoko Revival Project — SRP — is the flagship freeroam map for Assetto Corsa: a faithful recreation of Tokyo's Shutoko expressway network, and the map behind most of the big night-cruise and traffic servers people join. To host it you run a freeroam server (AssettoServer), not the Kunos racing server; you get SRP legitimately from the project itself; and you plan for its size and its Custom Shaders Patch requirement. This guide covers the SRP-specific bits that generic Assetto Corsa tutorials skip.

If you haven't set up an AssettoServer before, read how to set up a freeroam server first for the full config walkthrough — this post assumes that foundation and focuses on what's different about SRP.

Why SRP needs a freeroam server, not a racing one

SRP is a cruise map. The whole point is a long expressway with AI traffic and a big population of players driving it. AI traffic only exists on AssettoServer — the stock Kunos racing server can't do it. So an SRP server is, by definition, a freeroam server. If you spun up a "racing" Assetto Corsa server and loaded SRP, you'd get the map with an empty road and no way to add traffic. Make sure you're starting from the freeroam product.

Where do you download Shutoko Revival Project?

This is the part people get wrong, and it matters. SRP is distributed through the official project, not public mod sites. The current builds are released via the Shutoko Revival Project's own official channels and Discord/Patreon — that's where you get a clean, complete, current version with its AI splines intact. Copies floating around random mod sites are often outdated, incomplete, or missing the traffic layer.

Get the map from the project, then install it into your server's content/tracks folder (on our platform you upload it through the content tools rather than over FTP). The track folder name is what you'll put in TRACK= in server_cfg.ini.

Plan for the disk — SRP is big

SRP is a large map. Depending on the version and variant it runs roughly 1 to 1.9 GB on its own, and that's before you add a pack of traffic cars and player cars on top. A real SRP cruise server can easily sit at several gigabytes of content.

This is why disk is a genuine spec line for freeroam hosting, not an afterthought. Our freeroam plans ship generous NVMe storage precisely because cruise maps are heavy — a Starter server has 25 GB and it scales up to 200 GB on Max, so you've got room for SRP plus car packs plus a second map. If a host only offers you a few gigabytes of disk, an SRP server will be a squeeze.

Your players need CSP — and the right version

Like any freeroam server, an SRP server requires Custom Shaders Patch on the client. SRP in particular leans on CSP features, so version compatibility matters more than usual:

  • Clients need CSP for AI traffic, dynamic weather and Steam auth (CSP 0.1.75+ for auth, 0.1.76+ for weather effects).
  • SRP builds are often tied to a CSP version range — check the version the current SRP release recommends and set MinimumCSPVersion in extra_cfg.yml accordingly, so players on an incompatible CSP can't join and break things.

Tell your community which CSP version your server expects. A mismatch between the SRP build and a player's CSP is the most common "why can't I join / why does it look wrong" complaint on Shutoko servers.

Ports and the extra bits

An SRP server uses the standard Assetto Corsa ports — a game port for UDP and TCP (9600 by default) plus the HTTP/lobby port (8081 by default) that also serves content details to Content Manager. On our platform these are assigned and opened automatically; if you're self-hosting, make sure both are reachable.

SRP also ships some CSP "extra options" — for example, hiding the wrong-way indicator so it doesn't nag you on a two-way expressway. Those live in csp_extra_options.ini, separate from your main config. The SRP release documents the ones it expects.

Getting AI traffic running on SRP

The good news: SRP ships with its AI splines, so traffic works out of the box — you don't have to record a driving line yourself (which is the usual blocker on random maps). From there it's the standard freeroam AI setup:

  1. Confirm the map is installed and set TRACK= to the SRP folder in server_cfg.ini.
  2. Add AI traffic slots to entry_list.ini (AI=fixed / AI=auto) — dozens to a hundred-plus for a busy expressway.
  3. Set EnableAi: true and tune AiParams in extra_cfg.yml.

Because SRP is huge and traffic is CPU-heavy, the despawn radius does a lot of work here — only cars near players are simulated. Get the sizing right and read what AI traffic costs in CPU and RAM before you crank the density, because SRP plus 40 players plus dense traffic is a serious CPU load.

On Connect Hosting the AI-traffic control generates those slots for you, and because SRP includes its splines, the dashboard's spline check passes and AI enables cleanly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Shutoko Revival Project free?

SRP is distributed by the project through its official channels and Discord/Patreon rather than sold as a product. Get it from the official Shutoko Revival Project sources to be sure you have a complete, current build with its AI traffic splines — not an outdated copy from a third-party mod site.

How much disk space does an SRP server need?

The map alone is roughly 1–1.9 GB depending on version, and a real cruise server adds traffic-car and player-car packs on top, so budget several gigabytes. This is why freeroam plans need generous storage — our servers start at 25 GB and go to 200 GB so SRP fits comfortably alongside other content.

Why can't players join my Shutoko server?

The usual cause is a Custom Shaders Patch mismatch. SRP builds expect a compatible CSP version, and players on too old (or occasionally too new) a CSP can fail to join or see the map render incorrectly. Publish the CSP version your server expects and set MinimumCSPVersion to enforce a floor.

Does SRP come with AI traffic built in?

SRP ships with the AI splines that traffic needs, so you don't have to record a driving line — you just add AI car slots to your entry list and enable AI in extra_cfg.yml. That's a big reason it's the go-to traffic map: the hardest part (the spline) is already done.

Want a Shutoko cruise server without the setup grind? Our freeroam Assetto Corsa servers give you generous NVMe storage for big maps, an AI-traffic generator, and a content uploader — so you can get SRP up with a full road of traffic and invite your community.
