Why Connect Hosting

Valheim Dedicated Server Hosting, Built for 1.0

SteamPlayStation 5XboxNintendo Switch 2Microsoft Store (PC)

Console friends can join

Crossplay is switched on from the first boot, so PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 players join with the six-digit code your server prints in the panel console. PC players use the same code or your IP and port. No flags to remember, nothing to reconfigure.

1.0 and the Deep North, day one

Every server runs the official 1.0 dedicated server and updates itself on restart, so a patch never leaves your crew stuck on a version mismatch. Upload an existing world and the Deep North generates in the parts of the map nobody has explored yet.

Bring your world, keep every seat

Your world lives in a saves folder you can see, edit and back up — drop in your .db and .fwl and carry on. Valheim allows 10 players and all 10 are included on every plan; we never price by seat, so RAM is the only thing you choose.

DDoS protection

Every server sits behind 480Gbps network-level protection as standard.

Automatic updates

The server updates from Steam on restart — no reinstalls, no tickets.

Backups, twice over

Valheim’s own rolling world backups plus Connect backup slots with one-click restore.

Full file & SFTP access

Your files are yours — file manager in the panel, SFTP for everything else.

Dedicated RAM & NVMe

Resources are reserved for your server, never oversold.

Support that answers

Valheim 1.0 · 9 September 2026

Valheim 1.0 on a Dedicated Server: What Changed

Five and a half years of Early Access ended with a new biome, two new consoles and crossplay across every platform. Here is what that means for the server your crew plays on.

  • The Deep North

The final biome. On an existing world it generates only in areas nobody has explored; everything you built stays as it was.

  • PlayStation 5 and Switch 2

Valheim 1.0 launched on both, with crossplay across PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch 2 — one server, every platform.

  • Crossplay and join codes

Console players can only reach a server started with crossplay. It prints a six-digit join code on every boot; the code changes on each restart.

  • World version 41

Existing worlds are upgraded in place the first time the 1.0 server loads them. Back the world up before that first boot — the upgrade is one-way.

  • Faster saves, fewer stutters

Iron Gate lists faster saving and fewer zone-loading stutters — and says large builds will not see a dramatic improvement. Size RAM for your world, not the patch notes.

  • Mods unsupported at 1.0

There is no Steam Workshop. Iron Gate could not guarantee mods survive 1.0, and many broke on launch day. We run vanilla; file access is yours if you want to experiment.

Valheim 1.0 released 9 September 2026. Every Connect server runs build 1.0.7 or newer and updates itself from Steam on restart.

Crossplay

Valheim Crossplay Server: One World for PC and Console

Valheim 1.0 put the game on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 with crossplay across every platform. A dedicated server is how a mixed crew shares one persistent world — it runs 24/7, nobody has to keep a PC on, and console friends join with a code instead of an invite that dies when the host logs off.

  • Every Connect server starts with crossplay on — without it, only Steam players can see or join
  • The join code is printed in your panel console on every boot and changes after each restart
  • One password for every platform; Public Server on lists it in the in-game Community tab
  • Server and clients must match versions — automatic updates on restart keep you in step

How Each Platform Joins Your Valheim Server

PlatformHow to joinBefore you try
PlayStation 5Join Game → Join CodeTurn the join screen’s “PlayStation Network Only” toggle off to see crossplay servers.
Nintendo Switch 2Join Game → Join CodeAllow online play and crossplay in the console’s privacy settings.
XboxJoin Game → Join CodeEnable “allow play with people outside Xbox” in privacy settings.
PC — Steam, Microsoft Store, MacJoin Code, Join IP with host:port, or the Community listAny route; the IP and port never change.

The join code is issued fresh on every boot. Share the newest one from your console after any restart; your IP and port never change. A friend who sees “Incompatible version” needs a game update — the server updates itself on restart.

FAQ

Valheim Server Hosting FAQ

Yes. Every Connect Valheim server starts with crossplay switched on, which is what lets console players join a dedicated server. Each time the server boots it prints a six-digit join code in your panel console — share that with PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 friends and they enter it from the Join Game screen. Steam players can use the same code or connect directly by IP and port. The code changes on every restart, so grab the fresh one from the console after a reboot. If a console friend cannot see the server, check the console’s privacy and parental settings allow online play and crossplay — on PlayStation 5 the join screen’s “PlayStation Network Only” toggle must be off, and on Xbox “allow play with people outside Xbox” must be on.
Yes. Every server we deploy runs the official 1.0 dedicated server from Steam, the build that shipped the Deep North and the PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 launch on 9 September 2026. Patches install automatically on your next restart — no reinstall, no ticket.
Only in parts of the map you have not explored yet. Iron Gate generates the Deep North on the fly in unexplored areas, so an existing world keeps everything you have built and gains the new biome at its northern edge as long as nobody has already uncovered that region. If your crew has already mapped the far north, start a second world for the new content — a Connect server can hold several worlds, and you switch between them from one World Name setting.
Valheim server hosting starts at $7.99/month. Karve is $7.99 (4GB RAM, 20GB NVMe storage), Longship is $10.99 (6GB — the size a full 10-player crew with big builds actually wants), and Drakkar is $13.99 (8GB) for sprawling bases and long-running worlds. No setup fee, no per-slot pricing, and you can change plans or cancel whenever you like.
The dedicated server is light at first and grows with your world. 4GB runs a fresh vanilla world for a small group comfortably. Once a full crew of ten is exploring and the base sprawls, the server holds far more of the world in memory, and 6GB is the honest sweet spot. Choose 8GB for very large builds, worlds that have run for months, or if you plan to experiment with mods. Every plan can be resized later without losing your world.
Up to 10 — that is Valheim’s own limit, set by Iron Gate, and it applies to every server on every host. We never charge per slot: all ten seats are included on every plan. Plan RAM decides how smoothly a busy world runs, not how many people can join.
Yes. Valheim worlds are two files, a .db and a .fwl with the same name. Upload both to the saves/worlds_local folder through the panel file manager or SFTP, set the World Name setting to that name, and restart. Your seed, builds, bosses and progress carry on, on a server that runs 24/7 whether you are online or not. Character files stay on each player’s own machine, exactly as they do in the base game.
We run the official vanilla server, and mods are off by default. Valheim has no Steam Workshop; server-side mods mean installing BepInEx by hand, which you are free to do — every plan has full file and SFTP access — but we cannot support it, and Iron Gate has warned that the 1.0 update breaks many mods until their authors update them. If a modded server will not boot, remove the BepInEx files and it will come straight back.
Yes. Every server has a password — Valheim requires at least five characters — and you can switch Public Server off so it never appears in the in-game community list. Friends then join with the password and either the join code or your IP and port.
Seven at launch: US East (Virginia), US Central (Dallas), London, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Montreal and Sydney. Pick the one closest to your crew at checkout — and if your group shifts continents later, open a ticket and we can move the server.
Your server updates itself from Steam the next time it restarts, so it is always on the version players are running — a version mismatch is the most common reason a friend cannot connect in the days after a patch. Every plan includes backups you can roll back to, and support answers around the clock if a boot goes sideways after an update.
Twice over. The Valheim server keeps its own rolling world backups on disk, and every plan includes Connect backup slots you can take manually or on a schedule and restore with one click. Take a backup before you try a mod or a big rebuild, and one bad night never costs you Midgard.
Open your service’s Overview tab and read the console. Every time the server finishes booting it prints a line like “Session ‹name› registered with join code 123456” — that six-digit number is what console and PC players type on the Join Game screen. It is issued fresh on every restart, so after a scheduled restart or an update, read the newest line before you share it. Your IP and port never change.
Players reach your server three ways: by join code, by IP and port, or from the in-game Community list when Public Server is on. Valheim uses its game port and the next port up (2456 and 2457 by default); we publish the game port, which is what join codes and direct joins use. Steam’s own browser queries the second port, so use the join code or IP if a friend cannot see the server in a list.
Yes. Change the World Name setting and restart: a new name generates a fresh world, an existing name loads that world. Nothing is deleted — every world you have run stays in saves/worlds_local, so you can switch back at any time. Characters live on each player’s machine and carry between worlds.
