Valheim Server Plans Explained

Every plan runs the same 1.0 server with crossplay on; the difference is RAM, and Valheim RAM is about your world, not your player count. What 4GB, 6GB and 8GB each fit.

Every Valheim plan runs the same 1.0 dedicated server with crossplay on. The difference is memory — and with Valheim, memory is about your world, not your player count.

What each plan fits

PlanRAMStorageBackupsBest for
Karve4GB20GB2 slotsA fresh world, a small group, ordinary bases
Longship6GB30GB3 slotsUp to the full 10 players, big builds, a world you've played for months
Drakkar8GB40GB5 slotsSprawling settlements, long-running worlds, anyone experimenting with mods

Prices are on the Valheim hosting page. There's no setup fee and no per-slot pricing.

Why RAM is about the world

Valheim's server keeps every placed object in memory — each wall, torch and chest — plus every part of the map anyone has explored. A brand-new world on 4GB sits comfortably around 1.5GB of memory in our testing; the number grows as your group builds and explores, not when a tenth player connects.

So the question to ask is "how much have we built?" rather than "how many of us are there?".

The 10-player cap

Valheim allows 1–10 players per server. That is the game's limit on every plan — no host can sell you more on a vanilla server. The plans differ in RAM, storage and backup slots only.

Upgrading without losing your world

Upgrade from your service's Settings at any time. Your world, settings and backups stay in place — the server restarts with more memory and carries on. The join code will be new after the restart.

Signs you've outgrown a plan

  • Memory on the Overview tab sits near the ceiling for long stretches.
  • Saves take noticeably longer, or the console shows the world save stalling.
  • Players see rubber-banding around large bases even on good connections.

If you're not sure, open a ticket and we'll look at the actual numbers with you before you pay for anything.
