Valheim was made in Sweden, and a large share of the people looking for a server still play from the Nordic countries. Our Helsinki region is built for them: crews in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania get a server on their own side of the Baltic instead of one routed through central Europe.
Because Valheim simulates the world on the server, the round trip to it is what you feel as rubber-banding at sea and late hits in a fight. Keeping the server in the region keeps that round trip short for the whole longhouse, not just for whoever would otherwise be hosting from their own PC.
Every server runs the official Valheim 1.0 dedicated server with the Deep North, updates itself from Steam on restart, and can load a world you have already started — upload it and your seed, builds and bosses carry on.
Everything included with the server — the dashboard, backups, world upload and how each platform joins — is on the main Valheim server hosting page.
All plans include DDoS protection, automatic backups, and 24/7 support
Yes. Crossplay is switched on by default on every Connect Valheim server, wherever it is hosted. Each time the server boots it prints a six-digit join code in your dashboard; console players type that code on the Join Game screen, and Steam players can use the code or connect by IP and port. The code changes on every restart, so share the newest one.
Helsinki is usually the better fit for Finland, the Baltics and most of Sweden; southern Sweden, Denmark and Norway can be close to even between Helsinki and Frankfurt. If your group includes players further south, choose Frankfurt. We can move the server between regions if you want to try both.
Yes. A world played on 1.0 is a folder named after the world; one last saved before 1.0 is a .db and .fwl pair. Zip the folder (or pick both files), use Import a world on the Server Settings tab, and restart. Characters stay on each player’s own machine, exactly as in the base game.
