Project Zomboid server hosting
Distance hurts more in Australia and New Zealand than anywhere else we host. A Project Zomboid server in the US or Europe is a very long round trip from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or Auckland, and the game makes you feel every bit of it: zombies that lunge from further away than they look, hits that land late, cars that stutter across the road. Our Sydney region keeps the server on your side of the Pacific.
Project Zomboid simulates the whole world on the server — every zombie, every vehicle, every item on every shelf — and Build 42 simulates more of it than Build 41 did. That is why every Australian plan starts at 10GB of RAM, and why a data-centre server in-region beats hosting from a mate’s PC: it stays up around the clock, on dedicated RAM, with DDoS protection in front of it.
Every server runs Build 42 stable (with a one-setting switch to the legacy Build 41 branch), installs Steam Workshop mods from your panel, and can load a Build 42 save you have already started.
Everything included with the server — the dashboard, backups, mods and world upload — is on the main Project Zomboid server hosting page.
Estimates from the distance to the datacentre, not a live measurement — your own connection moves them a few milliseconds either way.
Plans
Every plan runs on the same hardware in this region, with DDoS protection, automatic backups and instant setup included.
Questions
Yes. Sydney is the closest region we offer to New Zealand, and a far shorter trip than any US or European location. A mixed Australian and New Zealand group should host here.
Yes. Checkout prices and bills in AUD for Australian customers, by card or PayPal, monthly or quarterly. There is no setup fee and no per-slot pricing, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
Yes, in every region. The server installs Workshop mods itself from the Workshop item list and the mod list in your panel, and downloads everything on boot. One Build 42 rule applies wherever the server is hosted: a mod has to be updated for Build 42 to load, so check the Workshop page before you add it.
If it is a Build 42 save, yes. Upload it through the panel file manager or SFTP and your map, characters and loot carry on, on a server that stays up whether or not the friend who used to host is online. Build 41 saves do not convert to Build 42 — that is The Indie Stone’s limitation, not a hosting one.
