Status as of 4 November 2026 (V3.4.0): PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can join a PC dedicated server, when the server meets the game's crossplay rules. New Connect servers start with crossplay on and meet those rules out of the box. This page lists the rules, what the game does when one is broken, and how the dashboard shows you which way it went.
Who can join
| Player's platform | Can they join your server? |
|---|---|
| PC (Steam) on the server's version | Yes: the server browser, or connect by IP |
| PS5 or Xbox Series X|S | Yes, while crossplay is active: they find the server in the console server browser |
TFP released "Dedicated Server Crossplay" with V2.0 on 27 June 2025, and the V2.0 patch notes added "Dedicated server and LAN server browsers for PS5 and Xbox". Before that, from V1.2 in December 2024, crossplay covered player-hosted games only.
The rules
Console players can only see and join your server when all of these are true:
- Allow PS5 and Xbox players is on. It is on by default on a new Connect server. The game's own default is off.
- EasyAntiCheat is on. TFP's crossplay instructions for PC require "EAC Protected set to On".
- Ignore EOS sanctions is off. As the name says, it makes the server ignore sanctions from Epic Online Services. The description of the crossplay setting in the game's own config file, as the community wiki at wiki.7d2d.net quotes it, says crossplay servers are only found and joinable "if sanctions are not ignored".
- 8 player slots or fewer. TFP: "Maximum supported player count for crossplay is 8". Every Connect plan has exactly 8.
- No mods. A modded server is a PC-only server.
- A generated world no bigger than 8K. TFP's crossplay announcement gave a world size of 8192. It has not said whether that still applies on V3, so the Server Settings tab holds generated crossplay worlds to 8K (8192) to be safe. 10K worlds are PC-only.
- The server is on Latest. Console players are always on the newest version, so a server pinned to an older version is PC-only. The Console crossplay card says so while a pin is set.
The Server Settings tab enforces rules 2, 3 and 6: with crossplay on, it refuses to save a combination that breaks one of them, and says which.
What the game does when a rule is broken
It does not refuse to start. On our V3.4.0 test server, a server with crossplay on and 12 player slots booted normally and wrote two warnings to its log:
WRN CROSSPLAY INCOMPATIBLE VALUE: PLAYER COUNT GREATER THAN MAX OF 8 WRN CROSSPLAY DISABLED FOR SESSION, CORRECT VALUES TO BE CROSSPLAY COMPATIBLE
The server was up and PC players could join, but crossplay was off for that whole session, while the setting still said it was on. Nothing on the console side tells your friends why the server is missing. That is what the card below is for.
The Console crossplay card
At the top of the Server Settings tab, the Console crossplay card reads the game's own verdict from the server's last start, and shows the version that start ran:
- On. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can find and join the server.
- Off. Allow PS5 and Xbox players is off. Turn it on, save and restart.
- The game switched crossplay off for this session. The card shows the game's own reasons from the log. Fix the setting it names and restart.
- Shown after the server has started once. No start in the log yet. Check again after the first start.
- Pinned. Console players can only join a server on Latest.
Because the card reads what the game actually did, it also catches things no settings check can see, such as a mod that disables crossplay.
Sandbox code and crossplay
TFP restricts some gameplay values on crossplay servers. Its V2.1 notes say the game logs "serverconfig settings not compatible with consoles when ServerAllowCrossplay is set to true", and V2.4 changed which LootRespawnDays values were allowed. Since V3.0 those gameplay values are inside the Sandbox code, and TFP has not published which sandbox options a console server must avoid. The lists of "allowed ranges" you may find online use setting names that V3.0 removed.
So if you change the Sandbox code on a crossplay server, restart and look at the card. If the game has disabled crossplay, the card shows the game's reason.
How console players find the server
They use the server browser on PS5 or Xbox and search for your server's name. Keep the name distinctive, and set the browser region to match your server. We have not confirmed whether the console versions let a player type an address, so we do not promise it.
