The Pixelmon Modpack
Server Hosting
Pokémon in Minecraft — a region your friends actually live in.
The Pixelmon Modpack is the official pack for the legendary Pixelmon mod: wild spawns in every biome, real battle mechanics, breeding, trading, gyms if you build them. A persistent server turns it from a mod into a region — spawns keep cycling, trades keep flowing, and your group’s Pokédexes fill in even when you play at different hours. We pre-select the pack at checkout and install everything server-side.

How much RAM does Pixelmon need?
Pixelmon needs 6GB of server memory to start and runs best on 8GB — the same guidance our checkout enforces, so a plan that can't run the pack can't be bought with it. Every size below carries it; resize anytime and your world moves with you.

01Order with the pack pre-selected
Come from this page and The Pixelmon Modpack is already picked at checkout — no searching, no version guesswork. Choose a plan and region and pay.
02We install everything server-side
Provisioning sets up NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, the matching Java runtime and the pack's own server files. Most servers are joinable within minutes.
03Update and roll back from the panel
Pack updates install with one click and a backup snapshots your world first — following a pack’s development never risks the map.
The pack's newest release (The Pixelmon Modpack 9.4.1) hasn't shipped official server files yet, so new servers deploy The Pixelmon Modpack 9.3.14 — the latest server-ready build — and can update from the panel the moment the author publishes them.

Pixelmon server pack & server files
The Pixelmon Modpack publishes its server files as a separate Server Pack download on the pack’s CurseForge Files tab — the newest server-ready build is The Pixelmon Modpack 9.3.14. It is not the same zip as the client pack: client-only mods are stripped out and start scripts are included. The Pixelmon Modpack on CurseForge ↗
Running the Pixelmon server yourself
- 01Install Java 21 — the runtime NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1 is built for. The wrong Java is the most common reason a pack server refuses to start.
- 02Unzip the server pack into an empty folder and run its start script (or the NeoForge installer it bundles).
- 03Give the JVM 8GB with -Xmx — 6GB is the realistic floor for this pack.
- 04Accept the EULA in eula.txt, forward port 25565, and keep the machine on whenever anyone wants to play.
About the pack
What is the Pixelmon Modpack?
Pixelmon has been Minecraft’s Pokémon experience for over a decade, and the official modpack is the maintained, batteries-included way to run it: the current Pixelmon build on Minecraft 1.21.1 plus its supporting mods, updated as the mod evolves. Creatures spawn by biome and time, battles use genuine turn-based mechanics with abilities, natures and IVs, and the endgame — legendaries, perfect breeds, competitive teams — is functionally endless.
It is the most community-shaped pack we host: servers grow gyms, shops, safari zones and player-run leagues. Entity load is the technical signature — dozens of living spawns around every active player — which rewards a server with headroom over one scraping by.
From our game servers team
Running Pixelmon well
Entities are your load, not chunks
Pixelmon’s cost is living spawns — every loaded area keeps a population of creatures ticking. 6GB starts a small server; 8GB is the recommendation, and busy public servers with many simultaneous players should look at 12–16GB.
Structure your world for the long haul
Pixelmon servers age into towns: gyms, PC centres, trade halls. Claim/protection expectations are worth setting early — and our automatic backups mean a decade-old tradition of “someone’s cat sat on the keyboard” never ends a server.
Updates track the mod, so use the panel
The official pack updates when Pixelmon does. Updating through the panel keeps the server pack and your players’ CurseForge-app clients on matching versions, which is the fix for nearly all Pixelmon join errors.
Tune spawn rates to your player count
Pixelmon exposes spawn-rate configs. Small private servers often raise rarity a touch (fewer players to share legendary hunts); large ones lower density to keep entity counts sane. Both are file-manager edits, backed up first.
