All the Mons — ATMons to its community — is the All the Mods team's own crossover pack: the full ATM-style kitchen sink with Cobblemon running through it, over 400 mods on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, and two million downloads within months of release. It is also a pack that genuinely wants to be played on a server: half the fun is one friend industrialising while another fills the party, in a world that keeps running for both.
Here's how to set that server up — the honest self-hosted way first, then the shortcut.
What you need before anything else
- The official server files. The ATM team publishes dedicated
ServerFiles for each release on the pack's CurseForge page. This is the download you want for a server — not the client pack. The client zip bundles client-only mods a dedicated server can't load, and "installed the client pack on the server" is the single most common way modded servers die on first boot.
- Java 21. NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1 requires it.
- Memory. Treat ATMons like its ATM siblings, plus creature load: 10GB is the working floor, 12GB is comfortable for a friend group. The pack-by-pack reasoning is in our modded Minecraft RAM guide.
- Patience on first boot. The server files run past a gigabyte and register hundreds of mods before the first world generates. First start is minutes, not seconds; every restart after is far quicker.
Self-hosting, step by step
- Download the latest
ServerFiles zip from the All the Mons CurseForge page and extract it into an empty folder.
- Run the start script the pack ships (it installs NeoForge and downloads the libraries on first run).
- Accept the EULA — edit
eula.txt to eula=true and start again.
- Allocate memory in the start script's JVM arguments — for example
-Xmx12G on a 16GB machine, always leaving headroom for the OS.
- Open the port. Forward TCP 25565 on your router to the machine running the server, and give friends your public IP.
- Lock it down. Enable the whitelist (
whitelist on, then whitelist add <name>) before sharing the address anywhere.
That works — and it comes with the usual self-hosting fine print: the server lives while that PC is awake, your home connection carries every player's traffic, your IP is the address everyone shares, and pack updates mean re-downloading server files and migrating the world by hand. If the machine also plays the game, it's donating 12GB of RAM while trying to run a client that wants its own.
Keeping the pack updated
ATMons is actively developed, and updates arrive with matching server files. The update ritual matters more than it does on a stable pack:
- Back up the world first. Every time, no exceptions.
- Replace the server files with the new release's ServerFiles, never by copying a client download over the folder.
- Update every player's client to the same pack version — a version mismatch is the classic "my friend suddenly can't join".
Inviting friends
Everyone installs All the Mons client-side (one click in the CurseForge app), you share the server address, and the whitelist controls who gets in. Progress is genuinely parallel from there: one player's ME system and another's party both live in the same persistent world, and rare spawns keep happening near everyone's bases whether the "owner" is online or not.
The shortcut
Everything above is what All the Mons server hosting automates: order with the pack pre-selected and provisioning deploys the official ServerFiles on NeoForge with the right Java, sized to the pack's real memory needs. Whitelist, console, scheduled off-server backups and one-click pack updates all live in the panel, and the server runs 24/7 in a datacenter region near your group. If Cobblemon is the draw but ATMons is more pack than you want, the lighter Cobblemon hosting option exists too.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much RAM does an All the Mons server need?
10GB minimum, 12GB recommended for a group. It's a full ATM-scale mod list plus Cobblemon's persistent creature entities — the combination rewards headroom more than a plain tech pack does.
Do I use the normal pack download for the server?
No — use the ServerFiles zip the ATM team publishes alongside each release. The regular download is the client pack, and its client-only mods will crash a dedicated server.
Can Bedrock or console players join an ATMons server?
No. The pack's mods only exist for Java Edition, so every player needs the Java client with the pack installed. There's no server-side workaround for a content pack of this size.
Can I move my self-hosted world to a host later?
Yes — an ATMons world is the world folder plus your player data. Upload it to the new server running the same pack version and progress carries over. Match the pack version exactly before the first boot on the new machine.
Is ATMons harder to run than All the Mods 10?
They're in the same weight class. Budget the same 10–12GB you would for ATM10 and expect a little extra entity load from spawned creatures — noticeable on busy evenings, not a different category of server.
